Tottenham fans have taken to Twitter to react after noticing a similarity between Mauricio Pochettino’s appointment and Ryan Mason’s arrival.
In his first interview after replacing José Mourinho, Mason told the Spurs supporters: “I’m going to do all I can to make you proud.”
Some Tottenham fans, with excellent memories, remembered that Pochettino said something pretty similar after he stepped in to replace Tim Sherwood.
The Evening Standard quote the Argentine as saying: “I will do everything I can to make you proud of this club.”
Of course, it’s a bit of a clichéd comment for a new manager to say, although the comparison was certainly there to be made.
Mason’s reign nearly got off to the worst possible start, as Hugo Lloris was needed to pull off an incredible double save in just the second minute.

However, Southampton did eventually stain the 29-year-old’s debut in the dugout, after Danny Ings put the Saints 1-0 up in the 30th minute.
Regardless of the result, it must’ve been a special moment for Mason, who has been with Spurs since the age of eight.
He became the youngest Premier League manager of all-time tonight, and he has another chance to make history straight away on Sunday.

Mason will be going up against one of football’s brightest minds, and greatest teams, in Pep Guardiola and Manchester City.
If he can win Tottenham their first trophy since 2008, he will be even more adored on the white half of north London.
Let’s see what the Tottenham fans have been saying after realising the similarities in Mason and Pochettino’s comments…
