Leeds fans have taken to Twitter to react after it was revealed that Marcelo Bielsa had been nominated for FIFA’s ‘The Best Men’s Coach’ award.
The Argentine is among the likes of Liverpool’s Jurgen Klopp, Bayern Munich’s Hansi Flick, Sevilla’s Julen Lopetegui and Real Madrid’s Zinedine Zidane on the shortlist.
It must be a dream for Leeds fans to see their side’s manager among an array of world-class coaches, having previously had the likes of Steve Evans roaming the Elland Road dugout.
Bielsa might struggle to beat the likes of treble-winning Flick and Premier League-winning Klopp to the award.
However, the former Marseille boss’ recent achievements definitely deserve some form of recognition.
Bielsa has managed to take a group of Championship players into the Premier League very quickly. Of course, other managers have done this before, but the style in which Leeds have done it is seriously impressive.
The Whites boss has developed many members of his squad into better players, namely the likes of Luke Ayling, Kalvin Phillips and Patrick Bamford.
Additionally, the way in which Leeds have jumped into the Premier League with their confident, swashbuckling style and stole points from Arsenal and Manchester City deserves credit.
