Arsenal fans have taken to Twitter after WhoScored showed just how well Konstantinos Mavropanos is doing away from the Emirates Stadium.
What’s the story?
Well, believe it or not, but the £1.8m Arsené Wenger signing is actually among the best players in Europe right now.
According to WhoScored’s form ranking across the last six games. the 23-year-old is the sixth best performer in the top five divisions.
Mavropanos has averaged a rating of 7.85 across the last six games, and has a 7.48 rating across the entire season so far.
The 7-cap Greece international is performing to an exceptional standard on loan at VfB Stuttgart, to say the least.
Some Arsenal fans who commented on Mavropanos called on Mikel Arteta to bring him back – it seems they aren’t aware of the contractual clause…
Edu may have lost Mavropanos for Arsenal

With each passing game in which VfB Stuttgart and Mavropanos thrive, Edu will be sweating.
Why? Well, when the Brazilian organised the season-long loan, he included an obligation to buy for just £3m if VfB Stuttgart avoid relegation (The Athletic).
They’re currently looking fairly comfortable in 13th, so there’s a good chance that Edu has just lost a very promising defender, and for only £1.2m profit.

Even if VfB Stuttgart are relegated, they still hold an option to buy Mavropanos for £5m – it seems Edu was desperate to sell him, for some reason.
Nevertheless, let’s see what the Arsenal fans on Twitter have been saying about the Greek defender’s form…
