Ally McCoist thinks Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal are making a possible mistake if they secure a deadline-day transfer of Chelsea midfielder, Jorginho, as he told talkSPORT Breakfast (31/01/23).
The former Scotland international thinks Jorginho isn’t mobile enough to play for Arsenal and he was left shocked that the 31-year-old could be coming in to play a squad role at the Emirates.
Back in the summer, and now in January, Arsenal have been looking for that defensive-minded player to bolster their squad.

Previously, it was summer deadline-day bids for Aston Villa’s Douglas Luiz, which resulted in the Brazil star staying put and signing a new contract.
Well, fast forward to the present and the current Premier League leaders might be suffering the same agony because that much-wanted squad depth in midfield still hasn’t arrived.
When Rangers legend Ally McCoist was told about the Jorginho interest, he issued the following response.
“Not a good move for Arsenal,” said McCoist. “There is some of that (the fact that I am a Chelsea fan). He’s not mobile or has high enough energy for Arsenal, at this moment in time.
On Jorginho being a bench player at Arsenal: “Are you telling me that you are signing from my team, as bench players? Is this what it’s come to?! Wow! Wow! (on the tables turning between Chelsea and Arsenal). Why would you sign him?!
“You have to sign players that would strengthen your team, if you can. I know you want a squad of 18.”

ARSENAL LEAVE IT LATE AGAIN
If that defensive-minded player doesn’t arrive, then Edu Gaspar will have to take a lot of the blame.
They can’t be in a situation where, in two deadline days in a row, you are trying to get a defensive-minded midfielder over the line.
The issue with the Jorginho talk is that, even if he does sign, he wouldn’t be able to provide what Moises Caicedo would bring to the table.
