Some Arsenal fans on Twitter are congratulating Aston Villa’s Emiliano Martinez on his call-up at international level.
The 28-year-old is in line to finally make his Argentina debut ahead of World Cup qualifiers against Ecuador and Bolivia over the next week.
Martinez, who quit Arsenal to join Aston Villa in a £20 million deal last month, has been bang in form since football resumed in June.
An injury to Bernd Leno saw Gunners boss Mikel Arteta use him a lot more regularly during Project Restart and the South American ultimately played a starring role as the North Londoners won the FA Cup.
Martinez posted some photos on Twitter of him training with Argentina’s national side – and with a certain Lionel Messi – and here’s how fans of the North London club responded to him:
Martinez has enjoyed a stunning start to life with the Villans, playing all three games as Dean Smith’s side boast a perfect record in the Premier League so far.
Things haven’t exactly worked out poorly for Arsenal either, because fit-again Leno is proving why he was ahead of the long-serving keeper in the first place following a series of fine performances.
