Newcastle United forward William Osula has explained the moment he found out that the Magpies wanted to sign him this summer.
Eddie Howe’s Newcastle United had a very frustrating summer transfer window with the Magpies not signing a single player who could improve their first-team side, apart from Bournemouth defender Lloyd Kelly on a free transfer.
Newcastle made several attempts to land Marc Guehi from Crystal Palace but the South London club did not sell the former Chelsea defender.
Despite this, Newcastle made additions in the form of Odysseas Vlachodimos and William Osula from Sheffield United and the young forward has opened up on his summer move to St James’ Park.

William Osula opens up on Newcastle move
Osula had been a pretty regular feature in the Premier League last season for Sheffield United, making 21 appearances.
He made enough of a mark for the Blades to earn a move to Newcastle in August, as the Magpies forked out a fee of £15m to land the attacker.
The Danish youngster has been speaking to Ekstra Bladet about how the move to St James’ Park came about and how quickly it all fell into place.
He said: “It actually happened very quickly. I thought there were a lot of ‘rumours’ about me going to Newcastle, but I didn’t look into it. I was very focused on the Sheffield United season starting soon.
“All of a sudden Sheffield came and told me that Newcastle wanted to pick me up and that they would accept the offer.
“When they told me, I was a bit in shock, but I was just so happy. I was still like – Wow, it’s Newcastle now.”
Osula may have to wait for his chance at Newcastle
The Swedish forward certainly looks to be an exciting prospect but Osula may have to wait for his chance in the first-team.
Alexander Isak and Callum Wilson are seemingly ahead of Osula in the pecking order but he is seemingly happy to wait for his opportunity in Eddie Howe’s side.
“It is something that I am very proud of. It’s a big club. Newcastle is a huge club and I am very happy to have made the switch to Newcastle from Sheffield United,” he said.
“My time will come. So I’m looking forward to seeing what will happen in the future.”
