Paul Merson has expressed his admiration of Tottenham Hotspur star Dejan Kulusevski in The Daily Star and has praised Antonio Conte for signing the winger Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal could not get.

The former Arsenal star has been left wowed by Kulusevski, who moved to Tottenham on loan from Juventus in the January transfer window.

The Sky Sports pundit has praised Tottenham head coach Conte for getting a deal for the 22-year-old Sweden international winger done.

The Athletic reported in April that Arsenal recruitment department watched Kulusevski closely for two years, but the Gunners did not sign him in January because they did not need another left-footed winger.

Merson wrote in The Daily Star: “Elite managers just have that little bit more know-how. Conte got rid of players they had signed for a lot of money, and he brought in great players. Dejan Kulusevski. Wow. That’s why he’s an elite manager.”

Dejan Kulusevski: Arsenal’s loss is Tottenham Hotspur’s gain

In our view, Dejan Kulusevski has been superb for Tottenham Hotspur since his loan move from Juventus and has shown what Arsenal are missing.

The winger played a key role in Spurs finishing in the Premier League top four this season.

Maybe with Kulusevski in the team, Arsenal could have pipped their bitter North London rivals Tottenham to the fourth and final Champions League spot.

Kulusevski made 14 starts and four substitute appearances in the Premier League for Tottenham this season.

The winger scored five goals and gave eight assists in those matches.
