If there was one positive for Liverpool on Saturday, it was the return of Harvey Elliott…..kind of.
Liverpool were held to a 2-2 draw with Brighton & Hove Albion at Anfield.
Jurgen Klopp’s side were leading by two goals as well which, by the Reds boss’s own admission, made the result feel like a defeat.
It was a very disappointing day for the Anfield outfit, particularly after winning 5-0 at Manchester United last time around.
But the sighting of Elliott was a big positive nonetheless.
The 18-year-old midfielder is out for the long term after his horrific ankle injury against Leeds United earlier in the season.
But the former Fulham gem turned up to the Liverpool game as a spectator – and was even pictured walking without the use of crutches.
Elliott has kept fans up to date with regular posts on Instagram and he certainly looks very hungry to get back to full fitness as soon as possible.
Here’s how some Liverpool supporters reacted to spotting him on the sidelines just before kickoff against the Seagulls.
Road to recovery
Klopp’s midfield has been decimated since Elliott’s injury.
The German manager lost Naby Keita to a hamstring problem on Saturday and really, despite his age, Liverpool need the boy wonder back.
With Thiago Alcantara and Fabinho also out, Klopp’s side are down to the bare bones as far as midfield options go.
It’ll be a while before he can call on the teenage gem, but Elliott is certainly on the road to recovery and the images from Saturday are another sign of that.
