Liverpool fans have taken to Twitter to react after Luis Suárez sent Steven Gerrard a message on Instagram ahead of tonight’s clash with Everton.

The 116-cap Uruguay international posted a comment after Gerrard uploaded a photo of the pair celebrating a goal in the Merseyside derby.

When the Rangers boss posted an image of himself celebrating after heading in a Suárez corner in January 2014, the Atletico Madrid forward wrote: ‘I will never forget this amazing times! Legend @stevengerrard 🔝🔝 when I made you score a hat trick in a derby😂😂😂’

Now, the Liverpool fans on Twitter adored this interaction between the two Anfield legends.

Well, all but one, who instead wanted to point out that the match which Suárez referenced in his comment wasn’t actually the same game as the one in Gerrard’s post – this specific fan described it as ‘awkward’.

Nevertheless, it was nice to see the South American interacting with the former Liverpool captain on derby day.

The pair enjoyed many memorable Merseyside derby affairs.

There were plenty of wins, many goals scored, and one victory over the Toffees even saw Liverpool reach the FA Cup final in 2012 – a match in which Suárez scored.
