Aston Villa fans on Twitter have provided a mixed response after rumours emerged that they are interested in Callum Wilson.
The Telegraph claimed that Bournemouth are keen on Villa striker Scott Hogan, and as a result, Villa are hoping to do some sort of part exchange.
Hogan is out of the first-team picture at Villa Park, so parting ways with him from Dean Smith’s perspective wouldn’t be a problem, but could it provide the Midlands with a real chance to sign Wilson?
There are sections of the Villa fanbase who think they can use Hogan to their advantage and sign the experienced target man, who was relegated with the Cherries on the final day of the Premier League season.
But others aren’t so keen because they don’t think his goalscoring record in England’s top-flight is good enough and they would prefer his teammates such as Josh King and David Brooks.
Villa need more quality and added-depth to their squad after they survived relegation on the last day of the season.

More than anything, experience is needed for Smith because that was severely lacking during the recently concluded campaign.
Wilson would fit the above bill, but it could also be argued that there are much better players out there who the club should target – Kelechi Iheanacho and Wilson’s teammate, King, are such examples.
Here is a selection of Villa fans on Twitter reacting to those Wilson-Hogan rumours:
