Speaking to the Premier League’s YouTube channel, Illan Meslier has named Mohamed Salah and Kevin De Bruyne as the two best players he’s come up against.
The French goalkeeper has had the misfortune of facing some of the best attackers in the world during his time at Leeds United.
The likes of Harry Kane, Cristiano Ronaldo and Romelu Lukaku have all played against Meslier, but according to the goalkeeper, Salah and De Bruyne are his two toughest opponents.
What’s been said?
Meslier was asked who the best player he’s come up against is, to which he replied:
“Wow, Honestly, I can say two. Mo Salah was one, and Kevin De Bruyne also.”

Not surprising
It’s not shocking to see these two names come up in this conversation.
Not only are Salah and De Bruyne two of the best players on the planet, but they’ve absolutely tormented Leeds and Meslier in recent years.
Salah actually scored a hat-trick past Meslier on his Premier League debut back in 2020, while De Bruyne played a key part in an embarrassing 7-0 defeat for Leeds at the Etihad earlier this season.
These two have been a real thorn in Meslier’s side for the past couple of years, and while relegation would be awful for Leeds, Meslier would probably be glad to see the back of De Bruyne and Salah.
One thing is for sure, these two are both excellent footballers.
