Liverpool fans have been left stunned after Curtis Jones was once again left out of England’s under-21 side.
The Liverpool midfielder was only handed a cameo role in England’s first game of the competition, and he was once again left out of the side yesterday, despite Aidy Bothrooyd ringing the changes.
The decision didn’t work out as hoped, as England lost 2-0 to Portugal, leaving their hopes of qualifying hanging by a thread.
And Liverpool supporters have been left angry and surprised about the managerial decision.
Jones has featured regularly for Liverpool this term, so it was a shock not to see him more involved for his country.
Oliver Skipp and Tom Davies are both talents, but Jones surely deserved a chance in one of the two games to impress from the off.
The teenager was brought off the bench late on yesterday, but by that time England were already 1-0 down.
Jones tried to get involved, but was unable to improve things, with Portugal ultimately sealing a comfortable victory in the closing stages, when Trincao scored from the penalty spot.
