Liverpool have been strongly linked with Thiago throughout the summer so far, but have failed to pull off a deal.
And the news that City could now surge ahead of them and sign Thiago has frustrated Liverpool supporters.
If Thiago was to sign for City then it could well be bad news for Liverpool.
Pep Guardiola’s side are expected to mount a stronger challenge for the Premier League title next term, after being left behind by Liverpool this time around.
Thiago would increase City’s creative options even further, and if he was to be a success at the Etihad Stadium, then Liverpool supporters would surely be asking serious questions over why they did not push to sign him.
Liverpool have made just one new addition this summer in the form of Kostas Tsimikas, and there are some concerns that they are not strengthening enough, after their success over the past campaign.
