Leeds United winger, Jack Harrison, expressed his surprise after being told that Frank Lampard predicted that he was going to become a ‘proper player’, as he told Sky Sports.

Soccer AM presenter Tubes shared that when he was doing an interview with Lampard at New York City many years ago, he stated ‘that kid over there, his name is Jack Harrison and you will be interviewing him in the future’.

And that’s exactly what happened as the £11 million Leeds star (BBC Sport) sat down with Tubes for a one-on-one interview.

Both Harrison and Lampard played alongside each other during their days in the MLS.

Before Harrison was on the opposite side when Lampard’s Derby County side beat Leeds in the play-off semi-final.

Marcelo Bielsa’s men would overcome that heartache by earning promotion the season after, with Derby losing that 2019 play-off final to Aston Villa.

Nonetheless, this is what Tubes told Harrison regarding Lampard’s comments and his response.

“Frank Lampard actually called this interview,” said Tubes. “I was over in New York City, a few years back.

“He (Lampard) said ‘that kid over there, his name is Jack Harrison and you will be interviewing him in the future’. And here we are now. I think he said proper player.”

Harrison responded: “Wow, I didn’t know he said that about me, at the time. Obviously, from London, he said ‘propah’.”

After spending several loan spells at Elland Road, including helping Leeds earn promotion and then maintain their Premier League status, the club paid Manchester City £11 million for Harrison’s talents (BBC Sport).

Every season, Harrison has improved under Marcelo Bielsa, although he has hit a stumbling block of late.

But the flying winger will be hoping his recent goal will help boost his confidence and help his long-term form.

Whilst Harrison’s overall form hasn’t been as consistent as he would have liked it, the injuries to his teammates haven’t helped his cause.
