Newcastle fans have taken to Twitter to react after the Chronicle’s Mark Douglas provided an interesting update regarding a potential takeover.

Speaking on the ‘Everything is Black and White‘ podcast, Douglas said: “We’re anticipating that things will come to a head in the next few weeks, and I know that’s been said for months and months and months but I think we are getting to the point where there will be some big story coming out.”

Now, this is very interesting, even if it doesn’t offer much substance.

The Toon Army are desperate for closure on this topic, as their hopes are toyed with after each vague update regarding a takeover happening.

As a result, any form of a concrete decision will be a welcome one, even if it’s a negative outcome which sees Mike Ashley remain at the helm.

It’s somewhat reassuring to hear Douglas appreciate and acknowledge that supporters will have heard similar news for weeks and weeks.

It makes his claim seem more genuine.

It also shows that he has sympathy for supporters who have been left in a genuine void after the Premier League blocked a proposed takeover back in September, as a club statement revealed.

That was when the Premier League said PCP Capital Partners, the Reuben Brothers and the Public Investment Fund of Saudi Arabia (PIF) failed their Owners and Directors test.

Hopefully, we can have some sort of concrete outcome very soon.

Let’s see what the Newcastle fans on Twitter have been saying about Douglas’ comments…
