‘Wow’: Ex-Tottenham coach claims Luka Modric was so impressed with one Spurs player

Former Tottenham Hotspur coach Clive Allen has told Daily Mail that Gareth Bale even impressed Luka Modric in training.

Allen worked as a coach when Bale was in his first stint as a Tottenham player, under Harry Redknapp.

And the Spurs legend says that the Welshman was a unique talent back then.

“There were things he did… where Luka Modric would turn and (be) like: ‘Wow, did we just see that?’,” Allen enthused.

“They were aware very quickly he could do things that no one else could.”

Bale and Modric, of course, both ended up taking similar career paths were the pair leaving Tottenham to join Real Madrid years later.

Bale has now come back to Spurs though, and is impressing again in training ahead of his second debut.

Football London report how Tottenham’s players have all been stunned by how good Bale is over the past fortnight, with the Welshman returning to full training.

There are now hopes that Bale could start for Spurs on Sunday, when Jose Mourinho’s side take on West Ham United.
