Leeds fans have taken to Twitter to react after the club tweeted a ‘wonderful’ quote from Marcelo Bielsa on their official account.
As quoted by Sky Sports, the Argentine said: “I go from day to day thinking I’m going to be here the rest of my life.”
Understandably, that is music to the Elland Road faithful’s ears.
After all he’s achieved in Yorkshire, supporters probably want the ex-Marseille boss to stay at the club forever, and you can’t blame them.
It’s not just what Bielsa has achieved, however.
It’s the way he conducts himself with professionalism and respect. You will rarely see the 65-year-old aim fire at a referee or a fellow manager – it simply isn’t his style.
Add that to the fact he’s able to make Leeds play scintillating, fast-paced attacking football, and there are few more things a fan would want from a manager.
Clearly, he loves life at Leeds, for he isn’t a man who often spends long in one job.
Famously, he held the reins at Lazio for just two days before deciding to resign, as the Guardian covered at the time.
Furthermore, he also spent just one season in charge of Marseille.
It speaks volumes that he has overseen more games for Leeds as a manager than he has for any other club.
He isn’t an easy man to keep happy, but Angus Kinnear, Victor Orta and others are clearly doing something right.
