The Bournemouth hitman would be an excellent signing for Derby County, if they could convince him to drop down a division.

Ex-Rams player Craig Ramage urged his former club to go out and sign someone who has a real ‘wow factor’ about them in January, when speaking exclusively to the Derby Telegraph, and suggested Cherries hitman Benik Afobe as a potential option for them.
Derby currently sit in sixth position in the Championship table, eight points adrift of the automatic promotion spots, and Gary Rowett’s side will be hoping to make a strong push for the top two places as they head into the hectic Christmas period and on into the new year.
Rumours have been circulating regarding the future of Chris Martin, with the Sun (print edition, Sunday December 3rd, page 65) claiming that Wolves want to bring him to Molineux in January.

If the Rams did indeed decide to sell the 29-year-old, they would have to bring in a ready-made replacement, and Ramage told the Derby Telegraph how they should be setting their sights to the Premier League:
“Martin has been a great servant to Derby Country but if Wolves came in for him in January and offered, say, £7m, I would sell him – as long as that money was reinvested in the squad, plus a bit more, perhaps. Then you could go out and try to bring in a striker with real power and pace, like Benik Afobe at Bournemouth – someone who would walk in the building and make you think ‘wow’. They would need to have a replacement in mind, though, to replace a player like Martin, who has scored more than 60 goals for the club, although only one of those has come this season.”

Afobe, 24, would be a superb addition to Gary Rowett’s squad. He possesses an abundance of pace, has terrific movement, and is a lethal finisher when presented with a goalscoring opportunity.
With the January transfer window just around the window, this will certainly be one for Derby fans to keep an eye out for.
