Gary Neville has told Monday Night Football on Sky Sports that Tottenham Hotspur’s Gareth Bale has annoyed him all season.

Bale has been starved of opportunities at Tottenham this term, with the Welshman constantly overlooked by Jose Mourinho.

But Bale hasn’t always cut the most frustrated figure on Spurs’s bench.

And Neville says that Bale’s attitude has really frustrated him.

“He has got to bring Dele Alli and Bale round and I am not saying that he has to pander to these players because Gareth Bale has wound me up all season just watching him smile on the bench,” he said.

The murmurings of discontent between Bale and Mourinho have increased in recent weeks, after the Spurs loanee opted not to play against Everton.

Bale was brought back into Tottenham’s squad against Manchester City at the weekend though, and he actually impressed.

The Champions League winner produced one moment of great skill and came as close as any Spurs player did to scoring in the second-half, in their 3-0 defeat.

Bale may now have a chance of starting in Spurs’s next game, which comes in the Europa League on Thursday evening.
