Some Liverpool fans on social media have been reacting after Fabrizio Romano reported that Jordan Henderson was a target for PSG before Lionel Messi came onto the market.
It’s easy to forget that Henderson’s future was uncertain at one point this summer. His contract was expiring and the club hit a bit of an impasse with negotiations.
Atletico Madrid were strongly linked, but now Romano claims that PSG were having a look at him.
The French club wanted Henderson, but Messi’s availability saw them shift all their resources towards signing the six-time Ballon d’Or winner.
To be honest, we can’t blame PSG for going for Messi instead of Henderson, but it is strange to hear that the Parisiens had a look at the Liverpool captain.
Liverpool supporters were rather shocked to hear this rumour, and they’ve been reacting online.
One fan even proclaimed that Henderson to PSG would have been one of the strangest transfers ever, while another jovially stated that the England star would never downgrade to join the Ligue 1 giants.
