Well, speculation about Tottenham Hotspur signing Nicolo Zaniolo is certainly ramping up.

This isn’t the first time that the 22-year-old has been linked with a move to Tottenham.

And if it fails to materialise this summer, it probably won’t be the last.

But will it fail on this occasion?

We’re not so sure.

Roma Live reported in February that Tottenham boss Antonio Conte had already made contact to sign the Jose Mourinho player in the Italian capital.

And now Matteo Superbi, a sporting director in Italy, believes that Spurs is a candidate.

Superbi claimed that he wouldn’t be surprised if the Italian attacker wound up joining someone like the Lilywhites.

He told Calciomercato: “I wouldn’t be surprised if he was bought by a top English team; the real unknown is that despite being very young, he has already had two major operations. I wish him well and that he has given his all in terms of injuries. I wouldn’t be surprised if there were clubs like Juve, Tottenham or Manchester. It’s still an investment for big teams.”

Well, Zaniolo is a wide player and Tottenham will probably be in the market for one of those.

Steven Bergwijn has hinted that he could leave North London this summer and Lucas Moura has been blowing hot and cold for about four years.

Signing a winger is definitely plausible for the Lilywhites and time will tell whether Zaniolo is a legitimate target.
