Tony Cascarino has claimed that he ‘wouldn’t be surprised’ if it’s Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s party who are the ones currently being the reason for the delay in the Arsenal hitman’s new contract.

The former Republic of Ireland international thinks that it’s Aubameyang’s party who haven’t ‘quite agreed to everything’, as he told talkSPORT (29/08/20 at 6:25 am).

Aubameyang helped Arsenal win the Community Shield on penalties over the weekend, with his spot-kick helping Mikel Arteta lift his second trophy at the club.

It’s quite clear that those at the Emirates Stadium now want their star man to sign on the dotted line, as Cascarino shared his thoughts on a deal that just continues to drag on.

“I think Arsenal fans are desperate for it to happen,” Cascarino told talkSPORT. “They obviously haven’t found a pen yet or a piece of paper to get this deal done because it should have been done ages ago.

“One part of this party hasn’t quite agreed to everything and I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s Aubameyang’s party.”

Arsenal’s record transfer deals

  1. Nicolas Pepe

    £72 million

  2. Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang

    £56 million

  3. Alexandre Lacazette

    £52 million

  4. Thomas Partey

    45 million

  5. Mesut Ozil

    £42 million

Arteta did tell Football London that he hopes that an agreement can be reached between both parties, as his deal is due to expire next summer.

Going by Aubameyang’s body language and performances, it’s quite clear that he’s happy in North London and looking forward to being part of Arteta’s rebuilding job.

Ever since Highbury was knocked down into rubble, Arsenal haven’t been able to pick up the pieces and prove their worth in English football once again.

But it could be argued that during Arteta’s first nine or so months at the club, there hasn’t been more optimism and belief that the Gunners may well be getting back on track.
