Tottenham fans flooded Arsenal’s Twitter post after they suffered a 1-0 defeat to Aston Villa last night because it meant that Spurs will finish above their rivals this season.
Whilst both teams have had a pretty average campaign, they would have still been fighting for pride, and it seems as though Spurs have won the bragging rights in North London this term.
It wasn’t long ago that Tottenham recorded a 2-1 win against Arsenal and they will now finish above their neighbours in the league for the fourth time in a row.
The Gunners went into their game against relegation-threatened Aston Villa having beaten Manchester City in the FA Cup semi-final and Liverpool in the league.
Therefore, it is perhaps no surprise to the Arsenal fans that they have suffered a defeat against a side that were sitting in the bottom three prior to yesterday’s match.
Things could still work in Arsenal’s favour because they have an FA Cup final to look forward to against Chelsea. If they can win that then they can hit back at their rivals.
