Everton are said to be looking to sign West Ham United striker Andy Carroll.
Everton are said to feel that Carroll would improve the potency of their attack, but one of Ronald Koeman’s side’s problems has been their lack of pace.
Everton simply haven’t been able to stretch opposition defences, which has left their creative players stifled.
Carroll does possess many qualities that would help Everton – his aerial prowess would give them a target, and his link-up play could bring others into the game.
However, Carroll does not have a lot of pace at his disposal and that could leave Everton still struggling to solve their attacking problems.
It may, therefore, make more sense for Everton to target another man at West Ham – who could also be available.
Diafra Sakho has hinted this week that a January exit could be possible, if he isn’t given regular football at West Ham.
And Sakho would provide Everton with the pace and power in forward areas that they have been lacking.
The Senegalese international’s fitness problems are cause for some concern, but Sakho has shown that he can score goals at Premier League level.
The 27-year-old has scored 23 goals in 62 appearances for West Ham, and it may just be that he would represent a better option for Everton than Carroll.
