Crystal Palace and West Ham United are believed to be in a tussle for the signing of Bournemouth midfielder Harry Arter, according to the Mirror.

David Moyes has shown interest in Arter after taking over as Hammers manager as the Scot looks for different options in central midfield.

However, the East Londoners now face competition from their relegation rivals Palace who are also looking for ways to improve their fortunes in the January transfer window.

For West Ham, though, does this interest in Arter suggest that captain Mark Noble’s time at the London Stadium is coming to an end?

Noble’s form has been consistently criticised over the past couple of seasons as the consensus appears to be that the 30-year-old doesn’t have what it takes to compete in the Premier League anymore.

Arter is three years his junior and offers more mobility in the middle of the park, so if Moyes gets his way and lands the Republic of Ireland international would that be the end of the road for the skipper?
