Cardiff City want to sign West Ham striker Diafra Sakho – but Championship rivals Leeds United are also in the market for a striker.

Diafra Sakho seemed determined to leave West Ham in the summer transfer window, so much so that he even underwent a medical at Ligue 1 side Rennes (Sky Sports) – only for the Premier League giants to call off of the deal at the last minute.
And The Mail is reporting that Sakho is once again likely to be the subject of speculation in January. The report claims that Cardiff City are interested in signing the Malian striker to guide them to promotion – though The Hammers are demanding £12 million for his signature.
While such a fee would obviously be a little steep for Leeds United, however, there is no harm in enquiring about a potential loan deal for the Senegalese centre-forward.

With Pierre-Michel Lasogga and Caleb Ekuban yet to convince in a Leeds shirt, fans have been demanding a striker with plenty of experience in English football and Sakho, who signed for West Ham from Metz back in 2014, fits the bill.
A speedy and athletic striker with a fearsome leap, injuries have held Sakho back in recent times but he has shown that he can score at an impressive rate in the top flight when handed a prolonged run in the side.

And at Leeds, he would likely be the undisputed first-choice striker. But why would West Ham let Sakho go to Elland Road on loan for a few months?
Well, it would be a surprise if any club was willing to meet their £12 million price-tag right now but, if Sakho finds form at Leeds this will make a rather ambitious fee look far more tempting.
