According to a report from The Sun, West Brom are keen on targeting a January move for Huddersfield winger Rajiv van La Parra – and the Terriers could consider selling the 26-year-old for the right price.

The Sun reports that David Wagner was left furious with the red card that the wide-man picked up in the recent defeat to Manchester City, so the £5 million offer reportedly coming in from The Hawthorns may be perfectly-timed.

But surely with West Brom looking to get themselves out of trouble in the Premier League, a move for van La Parra would simply be uninspiring from Alan Pardew’s men.

It is no surprise that van La Parra seems to stick in West Brom’s mind as it was his stunning goal that settled the game when the two sides met during the latter stages of Tony Pulis’ tenure.

However, that remains his only goal of the season in the Premier League, and he is yet to contribute an assist since the Terriers’ promotion, while his record in the Championship has hardly been much better, with four goals and five assists across the previous two seasons.

West Brom certainly have some exciting wide options in their ranks, and if they are going to spend money in January on strengthening their options in those areas, they should surely be players who significantly improve the squad – and while van La Parra has the potential to impress, as he showed against the Baggies, there have got to be question marks surrounding whether spending £5 million on him in January really is a smart idea.
