Aston Villa fans have been calling for a return for Christian Benteke for a long time now.

Thierry Henry’s arrival at Aston Villa may just make the return of Christian Benteke that much more likely.

Villa fans have been calling for Benteke to come back to Villa Park for some time, as reported by HITC.

The Belgian international has struggled for form in the Premier League, but he is a player who Henry knows well.

Not only has Henry worked with Benteke at international level, during his time at Belgium’s assistant manager, but the Arsenal legend has also spoken very highly of the target-man in the past.

He said to TalkSPORT just three years ago: “When someone asks me a question like that [who would you most like to play with] I think straight away, ‘can I play with him? Can he play with me?’

“I could have played with Benteke because I could have played off him. He can hold up the ball then I could have wandered around him. He takes all the knocks and kicks and I’m on the side.”

If Villa had the chance to sign Benteke with Henry at the helm it would now surely be a deal which would interest all parties.

The forward has struggled at Crystal Palace, and badly appears to need a move to restart his career.

Benteke’s greatest success so far has come at Villa, and a move back to familiar surroundings could restore his damaged confidence.

And if Villa do place Henry in charge to take over from Bruce it could just make the move more likely.
