Would these two strikers be better signings for Leeds than Jordan Rhodes?

Leeds United are yet to make their move this January.

Leeds United face missing out on Middlesbrough striker Jordan Rhodes, with Championship rivals Sheffield Wednesday and Aston Villa leading the chase.

The Sun report Wednesday are likely to win the race, having submitted a new offer of £8 million.

It is a fee Leeds United are not willing to compete with, nor may they be able to, but there are still quality additions they could make, who could turn out to be more productive.

Robbie Keane

The former Leeds United striker told TalkSport last week that he did not have an offer from the club, despite his desire for one last Championship challenge.

Now The Express report the Whites are in fact attempting to bring back the Republic of Ireland’s record goalscorer, and it would make a lot of sense.

Keane has the movement and nous to play alongside Chris Wood as well as in his place. Leeds need alternatives to the New Zealand ace despite his excellent form, to save him burning out or in case of injury.

Leeds are in fourth place and hope to land a play-off spot. Keane’s experience in big games through his career could be vital for an inexperienced side.

Matty Taylor

A target for Leeds in the summer, Bristol Rovers ace Matty Taylor has made the step up from League Two to League One with ease after electing to stay with the recently promoted side.

He has netted 19 goals this season for Rovers, and is understandably attracting attention from Championship clubs.

He would be available for a fraction of the price of Jordan Rhodes, and unlike the Middlesbrough man, he has been playing regularly and is full of confidence.

That momentum may not be so easy for Rhodes to suddenly recapture, and Leeds could sign a striker capable of outscoring the Scot for far cheaper than their rivals.
