West Ham have attempted to sign the Liverpool striker on more than one occasion in the past.
Hammers boss Slaven Bilic must be pulling his hair out this summer, as one failed striker bid follows another, in a transfer window that thus far can be described as nothing other than a farce.
The Croatian will have to get creative in his search, or more likely desperate, as he tries to salvage what he can from the scraps that remain.
One option still available to West Ham is a name who has been linked numerous times before with a move to east London – Daniel Sturridge.

The 27-year-old’s future at Anfield remains unclear, following the peripheral role that he played during Liverpool’s campaign last season.
The Hammers were reportedly lining up a £25 million offer for the England international earlier this summer, according to the Daily Star, and Bilic might just be forced to renew his interest in the Reds striker, as all of his other targets continue to fall by the wayside.
Despite Sturridge’s less-than-impressive injury record, he is still one of the best forwards in the top flight on his day, and he could be a real fan favourite at the London Stadium, if Gary Lewin – the club’s head of medical services, could just find a way of keeping him fit for 30 plus games per season.
He has scored 60 goals in 119 outings during his time at Anfield, and his clinical nature in front of goal would surely be a huge asset to West Ham.
Bilic’s side are crying out for an established goalscorer, and in a transfer window that has yielded little thus far, Sturridge could be just the man to help lift the gloom at the London Stadium, as the Hammers look to head into the new Premier League season with a bounce in their step.
