Tottenham Hotspur fans have been left impressed by Erik Lamela’s brilliance during Sevilla’s 1-1 draw against Mallorca in La Liga on Wednesday night.
Whilst Spurs were watching their paint-dry football against Burnley in the League Cup, Lamela was rolling back the years, as he scored a stunning goal from outside of the box.
The 29-year-old, after being fed the ball on the edge of the area, cut inside onto his left foot, channelled his inner Mo Salah and rocketed the ball into the top corner.
Spurs fans were mightily impressed by Lamela’s efforts – he has now scored three league goals since swapping the Premier League for La Liga.
Meanwhile, the man who replaced him in North London, Bryan Gil, is yet to open his account in any competition.
It has been a slow start from the 20-year-old and what makes matters worse is that he went off injured last night.
Nuno Espirito Santo’s side progressed through to the next round of the EFL Cup by beating Burnley 1-0 at Turf Moor.
Lucas Moura scored the only goal of the game, with a downward header inside the box, following Emerson Royal’s pin-point cross from the right flank.
But, once again, the manner in which Spurs are playing has come into question and it’s something that isn’t sitting right with the Tottenham faithful.
Whilst Nuno’s style continues to be a talking point, one thing the Spurs supporters can agree on is the magic at Lamela’s feet.
