Sunderland fans have given a mixed response to whether they would accept Sam Allardyce back at the club, and expressed their views on David Moyes to HITC’s Chief Football Commentator Michael Ramsey.
Former Sunderland boss Allardyce left his England post in unfortunate circumstances last week, following The Telegraph’s undercover sting where he was filmed seemingly giving advice on how to circumvent the FA rules regarding third-party ownership of players.
Sunderland have failed to win a league game since Allardyce’s departure, with current manager David Moyes overseeing five defeats and two draws as the club lays at the foot of the Premier League table.
Some Sunderland fans claim that they would have Allardyce back ‘at the drop of a hat’, lamenting their current boss’ negativity around the club. Others, however, say that the former England manager has ‘had his chance’ and ‘has let himself down’, highlighting the importance of sticking with Moyes for stability’s stake.
Patrick van Aanholt’s late goal was enough to rescue a point for the hosts against West Brom at the Stadium of Light on Saturday, but Sunderland look nailed on for another relegation battle – as Moyes predicted in August.
