Should Brendan Rodgers keep Marvin Compper in reserve for Celtic on Sunday?

Marvin Compper enjoyed a relatively decent Celtic debut in the 3-0 win over Morton on Saturday.
The German centre-back joined the Hoops in a £1 million deal in January but injury prevented him from making his bow under Brendan Rodgers.
The question is now whether Rodgers will stick with the 32-year-old and start him in Sunday’s trip to red-hot Rangers, but it could be a major mistake if he does.

God knows Jozo Simunovic isn’t exactly bang in form, but Rodgers would be wise to start him or maybe even Jack Hendry alongside Kristoffer Ajer if the alternative is Compper.
Not only has the former Red Bull Leipzig man only managed 90 minutes since December, but pitting him against in-form Gers duo Jason Cummings and Alfredo Morelos is a recipe for disaster given his rustiness and surely the Celtic boss must realise that he may be throwing Compper to the wolves by starting him.

Compper, who has one Germany cap, is also unlikely to have experienced a hostile environment like Ibrox on Old Firm day. It will be intimidating for every player in green and white, let alone someone who has only played 150 minutes of senior football since November.
The signs don’t suggest that the defender will emerge unscathed if he plays, but he can blame Rodgers if his Premiership debut for the Bhoys ends up in disaster.
