Celtic’s Moussa Dembele shoots at goal
Celtic striker Mousa Dembele is enjoying a dream season and attracting admirers from top level teams across Europe.
Clubs including Manchester United and Chelsea have been linked, recently cited by The Star, but Dembele must plot his next move wisely.
The danger is he moves too big too soon and steps back, by spending a season on the bench for one of the big clubs circling after his signature.
An ideal team for him are a side who have raided Celtic three times in recent seasons, Southampton.
The Saints have bought Victor Wanyama, Fraser Forster and Virgil van Dijk from Celtic, with huge success.
Wanyama has gone onto play for title challenging Spurs, while Van Dijk is tipped to make a similarly big move this summer.
Southampton’s Virgil van Dijk celebrates scoring their first goal
Southampton are a perfect next step for Dembele, and ESPN reported earlier this season that Dembele is on their radar.
Dembele’s prolific form for Celtic since has threatened to put him out of Southampton’s price range, with The Metro reporting he could be worth £40 million.
This though doesn’t rule Southampton out, due to former Celtic star Virgil van Dijk.
The Times report Liverpool and Chelsea are battling to sign the defender – whose value is £50 million.
This gives Southampton enough cash and then change to compete for Dembele’s signature, and given the previous success of Celtic stars on the south coast, the French striker should consider the Saints if they come calling.
