Newcastle fans have taken to Twitter to react after Everton announced the signing of Vitaliy Mykolenko on a four-and-a-half year contract.
What’s the story?
Well, Everton have moved quickly to bring Mykolenko to the Premier League, signing the Ukraine international in a deal worth £17.9m.
Now, you may be wondering how this concerns Newcastle.
That’s where Lucas Digne comes into it. The Frenchman – arguably one of the best left-backs in the Premier League – has fallen out with Rafa Benitez, and it now seems as if he’s been replaced.
Amid uncertainty over his future, the Mirror believe Newcastle want to sign the 28-year-old as Eddie Howe aims to keep the Magpies in the Premier League.
Unless you’re Manchester City, few clubs splash out significant sums on backup players, so Mykolenko’s arrival would suggest the Toffees have found their Digne replacement.
Everton could hand Newcastle 50% of a stunning full-back duo

In addition to Digne, Newcastle are also said to be interested in signing Kieran Trippier from Atlético Madrid.
The Athletic believe the England international is keen on a move to St James’ Park, and is enthused by Newcastle’s offer.
Now, if Newcastle can lure both Digne and Trippier to Tyneside, the Magpies would have one of the best full-back pairings in England.
Both are exquisite crossers of the ball, and have the athleticism to bomb up and down the flanks consistently.

With those two out wide, Callum Wilson would finally start to receive the service his movement deserves.
Crucially, Digne and Trippier boast vast Premier League experience, so they would hopefully be able to make an immediate impact.
That is crucial for Howe, as he can’t waste time waiting for new signings to settle in.
For now, let’s see what the Newcastle fans on Twitter have been saying after Everton announced the signing of Mykolenko…
