Ouasim Bouy may fear for Leeds United career if Ruben de la Barrera replaces Paul Heckingbottom as head coach.

Ouasim Bouy, the new player joining US Citta di Palermo, in action during a training session at Tenente Carmelo Onorato traing center on August 25, 2016 in Palermo, Italy.

Nobody would judge Leeds United fans if they had forgotten about Ouasim Bouy.

The 24-year-old, who joined on a Bosman last summer, hasn’t yet played for Leeds, having immediately being sent on loan to Culturual Leonesa, before the Spanish second division side sent him back to West Yorkshire in January.

Bouy failed to make a matchday squad under Thomas Christiansen or Paul Heckingbottom following his return, but a full pre-season with Leeds might have increased the likelyhood of the Dutch midfielder finally pulling on a white shirt in time for the 2018-19 campaign.

But if Heckingbottom is replaced by Ruben de la Barrera then the prospect of Bouy succeeding at United might be bleaker than ever.

De La Barrera is third favourite to take over from the former Barnsley boss according to Paddy Power, and the Cultural Leonesa boss is already familiar with Bouy, who managed only four appearances under him in Spain during the first half of the campaign.

The 33-year-old clearly doesn’t rate the former Juventus man and if he didn’t play him in the Spanish second division then he probably wouldn’t play him in the Championship either.

Competition for midfield places will already be fierce at Leeds next season, which doesn’t exactly bode well for Bouy even now, but De La Barrera’s appointment could make things a whole lot more ominous regarding chances to impress.
