The Irish international is highly-rated by Aston Villa manager Steve Bruce.

Aston Villa have recently been strongly linked with a move for the Irish talent Robbie Brady. It was reported by The Sun recently that Steve Bruce was considering offering striker Ross McCormack in exchange for the Republic of Ireland international, who is valued at the £12 million Villa paid for the Scot in the summer.

Brady is of course a superb talent, but has found himself often played at left-back in recent times. So, what does Bruce want him for? As a left-back or left-winger?

Hopefully, the latter.

Aston Villa are lacking in genuine wide men so Brady would offer them something they desperately need.

The lack of width has been obvious throughout recent games and Brady, either from the left or right, could be a fantastic addition to the Aston Villa team.

The bonus is however that Brady can play at left-back. Jordan Amavi is starring in the role at the moment but Brady could easily slot back.

He also gives Bruce the option of playing with wing-backs more effectively, a system he has used often in his managerial career.

There is no doubt that Brady would be a fantastic signing for Aston Villa should they manage to tempt Norwich into a sale.

He is exactly what they need at present, and Villa fans will hope that a deal can be pushed through.
