Would a switch to North London outfit Spurs be a positive career move for Watford winger Richarlison?
According to The Daily Mirror, Spurs are eyeing up a January move for Watford’s Brazilian winger Richarlison following the 20-year-old’s excellent start to life in the Premier League.
Signed for just £11million in the summer from Brazilian outfit Fluminense, the Brazilian has taken the Premier League by storm, notching up four goals and two assists in 11 appearances for The Hornets.
Richarlison’s scintillating form hasn’t gone unnoticed either, with Spurs taking an interest in bringing the youngster to North London.
With four and a half years left on his five-year contract, Watford would be in a position to demand a huge fee for Richarlison, but would a move to Spurs be the right one for the winger? Would he fit into their system?
Against both Real Madrid and Crystal Palace, Mauricio Pochettino’s side lined up in a 3-5-1-1 system, with Ben Davies, Kieran Trippier, Serge Aurier and Danny Rose rotating in the two wing back spots and Dele Alli playing in behind Harry Kane.
Such are the limitations of the system that Richarlison would likely find himself in a similar position to Son Heung-min – a player who endured an outstanding end to the season out wide but found himself struggling for game time.
The best move for the youngster would be to stay put at Watford for the remainder of the season where he is guaranteed to be an integral part of Marco Silva’s system and is guaranteed game time before potentially making the move later on, should Tottenham still be interested.
