Celtic visit Ibrox side Glasgow Rangers later this month in potentially their first game since winning the Scottish Premiership.

There is every chance that Celtic will visit Glasgow Rangers on May 12 as Scottish Premiership champions.
If Celtic win at Aberdeen on Saturday then the Ibrox trip will be their first game since reclaiming the crown – and that means a potentially awkward situation.
Traditionally a pre-game Guard of Honour would be formed by the opposition to pay respect to the newly-crowned champions but, because it’s an Old Firm derby, this may not be the case.
A lot of Gers fans would be downright horrified if Steven Gerrard’s side applauded Celtic on to the pitch that day.
It would be an act of extraordinary sportsmanship, the like of which Rangers right-back James Tavernier has previously criticised a player for not having.
Back in 2016, Alloa Athletic gave the light Blues – then under Mark Warburton – a Guard of Honour after winning the Scottish Championship, but Michael Duffy, on loan from Parkhead at the time, refused to applaud.
The decision on whether to give Celtic a Guard of Honour will be made by a higher-up at Auchenhowie.
But if – and it’s a big ‘IF’ – they agree to it then it’ll be interesting to see whether club captain Tavernier and other Gers stars engage in the same ‘true sportsmanship’ he referenced three years ago or, like Duffy, they take part begrudgingly and refuse to applaud.
