Would Pulisic feel differently about Tottenham move if Spurs came calling again in future?

Tottenham Hotspur summer target Christian Pulisic spoke in June about not wanting a Premier League move.

Back in July, the Daily Mirror reported that Tottenham had been interested in targeting a move for Borussia Dortmund midfielder Christian Pulisic, but wage demands scuppered any hopes that Spurs had of pursuing a deal during the final weeks of the window.

And ultimately, perhaps Spurs’ desire to try and make a move happen may have been influenced by comments he had made the previous month when he suggested to Penn Live that while moving to the Premier League had been a childhood dream, staying in the Bundesliga was now his priority.

“When I was little I wanted to play in the Premier League but now that I’m in the Bundesliga I’m not planning on a move because that’s what I want to do,” he told Penn Live.

Of course, that would have likely meant that had talks ever begun with Tottenham, he would have not had any desire to compromise on the financial package. But perhaps, it may not be out of the question to suggest that this season’s Champions League may leave Pulisic feeling differently if Spurs came calling once again in future.

Following their incredible win over Real Madrid at Wembley on Wednesday night, Mauricio Pochettino’s men have now booked their ticket in the knockout stages of the competition, and perhaps just as importantly, sent a massive message out to the rest of Europe that Spurs have arrived at the top table.

Meanwhile, in the same group, Dortmund appear to be facing a fight to book a place in the Europa League knockout stages, with two draws against APOEL Nicosia leaving them level on points with the Cypriot side and five adrift of Madrid who sit second.

Dortmund will surely still be favourites to book third place, but finishing second looks incredibly unlikely and catching Spurs is out of the equation entirely.

It was a real coming of age performance against Madrid from a Spurs side who have threatened to be this good in the last few years, and thus, it may have given Pulisic something to ponder if the Premier League side make another move in the future as any player would be forgiven for wanting to be a part of Pochettino’s squad right now.

Perhaps it may not be out of the question for the American to rediscover the feelings that made him want to move to the Premier League as a child, and if he does feel that way and Spurs do come knocking, perhaps those wage demands will no longer be set in stone, and a deal may be possible.
