Wolverhampton Wanderers boss Paul Lambert is being linked with a surprise return to Norwich City, with The Mirror reporting he is add odds with the Molineux side’s owners Fosun International about the club’s transfer policy.
According to The Telegraph, Lambert is keen to recruit more players with Championship experience, after Wolves finished a place worse off than last season (15th) despite an influx of costly overseas additions, most of which are thought to have been orchestrated by Portuguese super-agent Jorge Mendes.
However, it is claimed that Mendes will again oversee transfer proceedings, leaving Lambert’s future in doubt.
The Scot is said to want three new recruits in particular at Wolves, but might he have better luck at Norwich?

Grant Hanley (Newcastle United)
Newcastle paid £5.6 million for Hanley last summer, but the Scotland centre-back has featured only sporadically this season and is set to become surplus to requirements following the Magpies’ promotion. Lambert has worked with him before at Blackburn, although their relationship may count for nothing with sporting director Stuart Webber the man currently calling the shots Norwich. Webber has been busy cutting costs in recent weeks and it remains to be seen if Hanley’s transfer would fall within the Canaries budget.

Tom Lawrence (Leicester City)
A transfer that would go down well at Carrow Road, with Lawrence shining at local rivals Ipswich Town this season. The winger – who was also managed by Lambert at Blackburn, albeit briefly – scored 11 goals and created as many at Portman Road, although it may not be enough to earn him a first team spot at parent club Leicester. The problem is Norwich don’t really need any in Lawrence’s position, unless the likes of Alex Pritchard, Yanic Wildschut and the Murphy twins, Jacob and Josh, are sold, while the Welshman is said to want Premier League football next term.

Tammy Abraham (Chelsea)
Every club in the Championship will be ringing up about Abraham after the teenager’s 26-goal haul at Bristol City this season. A new striker certainly wouldn’t go amiss in Norfolk, while Chelsea are said to be seeking another loan move which would suit the Canaries’ financial situation. Having said that, the Blues are hoping the Premier League will be Abraham’s next port of call, making this one something of a stretch.
