Britt Assombalonga has struggled for form this season – and it’s unlikely Norwich City will make another £7m offer in the summer.

Nottingham Forest forked out a club record £5.5 million to sign Peterborough United’s prolific 21-year-old Britt Assombalonga in 2014, as reported by the BBC.
Therefore, it’s fair to say they would have their eyes on a rather substantial profit if they were to consider selling the striker in the summer. As Norwich City discovered almost 12 months ago, Forest will not let one of their most important players leave on the cheap.
The Daily Mail claimed that The Canaries had a bid of £7 million rejected by Forest in July last year. At the time, such an offer appeared to carry a great deal of risk.
After all, Assombalonga had only found the back of the net only once in the previous season, managing just four appearances after return from a long-term knee problem. Yes, the former Watford youngster had rattled home 15 in 29 games in his debut campaign at the City Ground, but such horrific injuries can have lasting effects.
Players even more naturally gifted than Assombalonga have failed to fully recover.

And although the 24-year-old is Forest’s top scorer with 10 goals this season, his performances in recent weeks have left a lot to be desired. In fact, Assombalonga has hit the back of the net just once in his last 12 Championship outings – a barren run which has coincided with Forest slipping to just a point above the drop zone.
Forest, therefore, are chalk to Norwich’s plentiful cheese. Netting 76 goals in the Championship this season, The Canaries have the league’s joint-second most prolific attack. Cameron Jerome has 16 while Nelson Oliveira and Jacob Murphy are both one away from double figures.

Therefore, while Norwich have left it too late to seriously challenge for the play-offs, their disappointing season is hardly the result of failing to land Assombalonga last summer.
And it appears unlikely that they would renew their interest at the end of the current campaign. The question, however, is whether Nottingham Forest would be more receptive to offers of £7 million this time around.
