The Toffees have completed a move to sign Turkey international Cenk Tosun for £25million from SuperLig champions Besiktas, meaning Niasse has fallen down the pecking order even further.
Some reports suggest that Everton are still in the market for a new striker, with Niasse now behind Tosun and Dom Calvert-Lewin, while the Toffees could be looking to get a work permit for injured returnee Henry Onyekuru.
The Daily Mirror claims in their live transfer blog (Tuesday, 07:15) that the 27-year-old striker is set to leave Merseyside this month, with Crystal Palace and Brighton both likely to be keen on splashing out £13million to land the forward.
However, with Newcastle so desperately in need of a proven Premier League marksman, should Rafa Benitez look to land Niasse to finally end his hunt for a striker?
Everton’s number 19 has fired five goals in 11 top-tier outings this term, and it is that one-in-two ratio that Newcastle crave. Benitez could now be afforded the spending power too, takeover or not, with Aleksander Mitrovic interesting Bordeaux.
French outlet RMC Sport reckon the Serbia international is on his way out, and that will give Benitez the funds required to bring Niasse north of Merseyside to Tyneside.
Offering speed, aerial prowess, composed finishing and strength, Niasse has a bit of everything and has certainly proved more effective of late than flop summer signing Joselu.
Adding Niasse to compete with Dwight Gayle should bring the best out of the two strikers, and that could be the key in keeping Newcastle in the top flight of English football for another season come May 2018.
