Mallik Wilks is one of Leeds United’s most highly-rated youngsters but he has been lined up for a move to Premier League giants Everton.

Leeds United fans have been clamouring for some time for homegrown starlet Mallik Wilks to get his chance in the first team.

As it stands, the 18-year-old is yet to make his senior league bow in Leeds colours despite scoring at an impressive rate for the club’s reserve sides in recent times, earning rave reviews to boot.

And there could be a very realistic chance that arguably Leeds’ most exciting young talent will never play for the first-team in the Championship. According to The Mail, Milks may follow in the footsteps of Aaron Lennon, Danny Rose and co and leave for a Premier League giant early in his career.

Everton are understood to be interested in the teenager, who has enhanced his reputation with five goals on loan at League Two Accrington Stanley this season. The Toffees, with Steve Walsh as director of football, have been scouring the country for young talents to bring into their ever-improving academy and Wilks fits the bill.

Understandably, Leeds would be hugely disappointed to lose the local lad in the near future. But they can at least take some solace in knowing that Wilks is far from being the only fresh-faced striking phenomenon on the club’s books.

The teenage Jack Clarke is arguably an even bigger talent than his fellow teen Wilks. At just 16, Clarke is already playing regularly for the Under-18s and, when reports broke last month that he was about to sign professional terms at Leeds, he had nine goals in just seven starts to his name.

And Ryan Edmondson, the hugely talented youngster who signed recently from York City, is also rated very highly in West Yorkshire. As is Spaniard Adrian Balboa and the former Barcelona wonderkid Kun Temenuzhkov.

Losing Wilks would be a disappointment – but there are still reasons for Leeds to feel positive about the future.
