Leeds United are being linked with a move for Spanish attacking midfielder Álex Gallar in the summer. Diario De Leon have suggested Leeds are keen on signing the player who has helped his side to the top of Spain’s second-tier with five goals and five assists this season.
So what would that mean for Pablo Hernandez?
The former Spanish international has established himself as a firm fan favourite at Leeds with some mercurial performances in their midfield over the past couple of seasons.

Such performances last term earned him a contract extension, which runs out in the summer. The question ultimately, is whether Leeds will need Hernandez with Gallar at the club next term. The Catalan was charged with replacing Samuel Saiz at Huesca, who of course joined Leeds, all three are very similar players and Leeds would simply have no need for all of them in the same squad.
Hernandez, who will turn 34 in April, would seem the most expendable because of his advancing years and contract situation.

This week he spoke to El Mundo in Spain about a desire to return to his boyhood club Castellon at some point in his career. He imagined such a scenario being a little further down the road. If Leeds sign Galler in the summer he might just be looking for a new club after all.
