Would Leeds winning Robert Snodgrass race this summer have been a game-changing deal for Whites?

Leeds United are currently going through a miserable run of form in the Championship.

Back in July, football.london reported that Leeds were amongst a host of sides chasing West Ham winger Robert Snodgrass after his torrid start to life at the London Stadium.

Ultimately, Snodgrass would end up leaving the Hammers to join the Whites’ Championship rivals Aston Villa on a season-long loan deal. And it appeared initially that Thomas Christiansen’s side did not suffer too greatly.

Leeds were one of the early pace-setters in the second tier, keeping six clean sheets in a row at one stage to move to the summit of the division, while Snodgrass seemed to take a while to get going at Villa Park.

However, recent weeks have just hinted that Leeds could have really done with winning the race for Snodgrass in the summer.

Following their defeat to Derby County on Tuesday night, Leeds are currently on a run of seven defeats in nine league games and have now fallen out of the play-off places in the table, with creativity going forward appearing to be one of the key problems for the team.

That is because Villa claimed an impressive 2-0 win away at Preston North End on Wednesday, where Snodgrass was on fire, scoring one and setting up another for Steve Bruce’s men.

His form has not been perfect, but it could certainly be argued that the former Leeds man has been a lot more impressive out on the wing and a lot more unpredictable than a number of the Whites’ current options have been this term.

So perhaps it would be fair to suggest that if Snodgrass had ended up returning to Leeds in the summer, the Whites would have the kind of player they appear to be crying out for right now instead of looking as if they are beginning to run out of ideas.
