Leeds United have been linked with the versatile Arsenal youngster.

According to Goal.com, Leeds United have discussed the possibility of signing Arsenal player Krystian Bielik on loan, but the 19-year-old is unlikely to get the sufficient game time he needs at this stage of his career if he swapped the Emirates Stadium for Elland Road.

While the Polish youngster is versatile enough to do a fine job as a centre-back or a holding midfielder, Leeds is not the club for him if he wants to play week in, week out.

Leeds have four quality midfield options in the form of Kalvin Phillips, Eunan O’Kane, Ronaldo Vieira and Mateusz Klich – a quartet whose presence ultimately forced Liam Bridcutt out of the club – while the Whites have Pontus Jansson, Liam Cooper, Matthew Pennington and Luke Ayling to cover at centre-back when required.

Given his inexperience, Bielik would be nothing more than fourth-choice centre-back, and the YEP’s suggestion that discussions were nothing more than tentative, with the Whites unlikely to act on them with time running out, makes sense.

It is indicative of how far Leeds have come this summer that a player of Bielik’s undoubted quality would be little more than a fringe player, and while Whites boss Thomas Christiansen must hope his star names stay injury free over the next eight months, it makes sense that he stepped back from a potential move for the Arsenal man.

Leeds have a squad capable of securing a long overdue promotion, provided they replace the goals of former top-scorer Chris Wood.

As for Bielik, he needs to find a club where he can get the minutes he needs to continue his development.
