Inter Milan reportedly want to include Joao Mario in a deal to sign Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Mousa Dembele.
According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Inter Milan are interested in signing Mousa Dembele from Tottenham Hotspur in the summer transfer window.
It has been reported by the Italian publication that Inter think that they can get Dembele for around €16 million (£14.02m) and are also willing to include Joao Mario in the deal.
Mario spent the second half of the past season on loan at West Ham United, scoring goals and providing one assist in 12 Premier League appearances in the process.
Would Tottenham Hotspur accept?
Mario is a very good midfielder and performed reasonably well for the Hammers, but it is hard to see Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy accept the deal that Inter are reportedly proposing.
After all, £14m for an established and quality midfielder like Dembele is very cheap, and even though the Belgium international – who earns £80,000 per week as salary according to The Daily Star – has had injury issues recently, he is worth much more.
True, Mario is 25 years of age and has a lot of potential, but it would still be a risk for Tottenham to bring in a player on good wages that they may not actually need.
Moreover, Spurs could be concerned that Inter are willing to part company with Mario despite spending him £40 million on him in the summer of 2016, as reported by Sky Sports.
