Lee Dixon has raved about reported Arsenal target Ben White on Amazon Prime Video (2:42pm, May 1, 2021) and has said that he thought that the defender would be at Liverpool now.

The former Arsenal star rates Brighton and Hove Albion defender White highly, and believes that he has a bright future ahead of him.

Dixon has said that he thought that Liverpool would sign White last summer following his return to Brighton after a successful loan spell at Leeds United.

TEAMtalk reported last summer interest from the Reds in the 23-year-old central defender.

The Sun has reported this month that Arsenal are among the clubs interested in the youngster, adding that Brighton want £35 million as transfer fee for the 23-year-old, who can also operate as a defensive midfielder.

Dixon said about White on Amazon Prime Video (2:42pm, May 1, 2021), as transcribed by The Brighton & Hove Independent: “He’s very versatile. He reads the game well and gets forward too. He can pick a long pass, he has great vision and is comfortable going into that right back position. A right centre half playing in a three has to be comfortable going out to a winger and he is.

“He has very good feet and he’s quick. I think he has a massive future. No disrespect to Brighton and I didn’t think he’d be at Leeds for very long either. I thought he would have gone to Liverpool or something like that. He has come back to Brighton, he’s had an exceptional season and long term a lot of the big teams will be after him.”

Ben White to Liverpool or Arsenal?

White is a very good and promising young defender who impressed Leeds head coach Marcelo Bielsa during his loan spell at Elland Road.

Both Liverpool and Arsenal are well stocked at the back, and it is not going to be easy for White to go to the Reds or the Gunners and establish himself in the starting lineup.

Brighton are likely to be safe from relegation, and manager Graham Potter will not want to sell White.

However, money talks, and a move to Liverpool or Arsenal would be very tempting for White.

According to WhoScored, White have made 32 appearances in the Premier League for Brighton this season.
