Ian Wright told the Kelly & Wrighty show that one of Sadio Mane, Roberto Firmino and Mo Salah ‘would have been sold’ if it wasn’t for the global pandemic.
The current situation around the world has wrecked havoc on day-to-day proceedings, and from a football perspective, transfer business is not being concluded in the crazy manner that is used to.
Liverpool are yet to add any fresh legs to their squad this month, whilst in the summer, they added depth to their forward line by bringing Diogo Jota to the club.
But Wright feels, Liverpool’s destructive and currently confidence-stricken front three would have been broken up if the pandemic had not hit.
“You think, by now, without the pandemic, one of them may have gone,” said Wright. “They might have moved it around and someone would have come in.
“We have seen that Jota came in, but you thought that with Liverpool’s recruitment and buying. One of them would have been sold for a vast amount of money, which then would have enabled the next lot to come in.
“That seems to have stalled, so, yes you talk about the ages of those players, [but] this isn’t meant to be happening.
“But because we are in the pandemic, Liverpool are not able to do the business they want to do, to go to the next step of what they are trying to do.”

Over the years, Liverpool’s trio have been dancing to their own tunes whilst others watch in amazement and unable to replicate their moves.
But it seems as though a number of Liverpool players have been wearing sound-cancelling headphones in recent weeks because there has been no rhythm or zip to their game.
Whilst Liverpool did finally get back on the scoresheet during their FA Cup exit on Sunday, a stubborn, aggressive and well-organised oiled machine in Tottenham’s Jose Mourinho awaits them in a few hours time.
And one thing is for sure, the party-wrecker in Mourinho is going to do everything in his power to make sure a clean sheet is on the board for his side.
